The Atascadero Restaurant
Right on El Camino Real between Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo, our Atascadero restaurant has become the Central Coast's home for real Mexican food — the kind you don't have to drive to LA for. We know that's a big claim. Come see if we back it up.
Atascadero rewards care. It's a town of makers, growers, and people who notice when someone cuts a corner. So we don't. Every salsa is stone-ground in our kitchen, every tortilla is pressed to order, every margarita starts with a lime cut behind the bar. It's the kind of place you take out-of-town guests when you want them to be quietly impressed.
Weekends run late here — kitchen open until 11 PM Friday and Saturday — because the Central Coast deserves a real, unhurried Mexican dinner (and a second margarita). Weekdays we close at 9:30 PM, which is still plenty of time to slip in after a hike, a winery tour, or a long day of meetings.
Our regulars come from all over: Templeton and Paso in the north, Morro Bay to the west, San Luis Obispo to the south. We're the halfway point that ended up being the destination.
Ask any local — the pick is the Chile Verde Burrito. Slow-simmered pork in tomatillo salsa, jack, rice, and beans, wrapped and pressed on the plancha until golden. Also pull the trigger on the Baja-Style Fish Tacos, beer-battered and topped with chipotle crema. And do yourself a favor and get the Skinny Margarita on the rocks.
You'll find us at 6917 El Camino Real, on El Camino Real just off the 101. Big lot, easy in-and-out. Downtown Atascadero is a 5-minute drive, Paso Robles wine country is 15 minutes north, Morro Bay is 25 minutes west, and SLO is 20 minutes south. If you're wine-tasting in Paso and craving something that isn't a cheese plate, we're your dinner.
The Central Coast is wedding country and we cater plenty of them — rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, post-ceremony brunches. Send a catering inquiry or call (805) 462-1400 to talk to our team.
